The Chicago Blues Experience

The Chicago Blues Experience Museum and Foundation

  • A World-Class Cultural Attraction for Chicago

The Chicago Blues are a treasured part of the city’s cultural heritage. Born in the Mississippi Delta and electrified in Chicago, Blues music has been the city’s soundtrack for generations. And yet there has never existed a comprehensive Blues museum in Chicago to pass on the history of this vital art form. The Chicago Blues Experience museum and foundation seeks to build this missing link between the past and future of the Blues.

  • Leveraging Musical Genius

The Artists’ Board of the Chicago Blues Experience includes a dazzling array of the world’s most talented living blues and rock legends, including all four Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, Tedeschi Trucks, and Joe Bonamassa. B.B. King joined the Board the year prior to his death in 2015. These dozens of Artists’ Board members have thrown their full support behind our endeavor to honor the legacy of the Blues in Chicago.

  • Creative Partnerships

We partnered with BRC Imagination Arts, a top firm for immersive cultural attractions, to develop the concept and designs for the Chicago Blues Experience Museum. BRC has designed and executed impressive attractions around the world, including the Museum of Liverpool, the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, the Grand Ole Opry Theater, the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, IL, and the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta.

An immersive educational museum for tourists and Chicago natives alike.

We’ve partnered with BRC Imagination Arts, one of the most innovative design and attraction firms in the world, to conceptualize a music and history museum like no other. Captivating, engaging, and interactive, our exhibits will delight and educate visitors of all ages and cultural backgrounds with the power of traditional African-American storytelling and the Blues.

A foundation to serve the community.

The Chicago Blues Experience Foundation will support the well-being of living Blues artists and inspire the next generation of Blues lovers by teaching in the schools and conducting outreach in the community, on the South Side of Chicago and beyond.

An abiding passion.

CBE has been stalled since the beginning of the Pandemic, but we still believe in its vision for Chicago. We are humbled by the continuing support of the various stakeholders: the members of the CBE dream team, the City of Chicago, real estate developers, music fans globally, and most importantly, the artists whose careers were profoundly influenced by the Blues.

CBE co-founders Bill & Sona with Bob Santelli (creator of Grammy Museum & Experience Music Project), Terry Stewart (former President of Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, and Christian Lachel (Executive Creative Officer, BRC Imagination Arts).

Inspiring awe at Chicago’s rich cultural heritage.
